I need some advice, and anyone is welcome to chime in if you know.
One of my summer placements is for a girl going into 8th grade who is 15. Her Lexile reading level is a 460, or somewhere around a 4th grade level. They are trying to get her range to go up around 70 points a year. What sort of activities can you recommend for this, or what can you point me in the direction of so that I can look it up?
Thanks!
Re: Tara
I am trying to think on free things. For students we do Reading Plus (on computer) with helps somewhat but to my knowledge, we paid for it. I did book studies with my 3rd graders. I picked out a book and then we read it all together. Then I had them answer short essay questions afterwards in their reading journals.
Tara might be better at this since I am with grades 3-5.
Sorry for the delay in the response. Liliana was very fussy yesterday so I couldn't get on here. I would recommend the website http://www.readwritethink.org/ There are a lot of great activities that she can do to get her reading level up. Another thing that might help is having her use an Ipad or regular computer and have her listen to stories where she can read along. Here is a great site for that: http://www.magickeys.com/books/.
I hope this helps!
